Boston's Sailboat Killer
Short story by By David Weber, Associated Press Writer | October 10,
2006 edited for space, link at bottom Thomas Maimoni, 62, only acknowledged being guilty of panicking and trying to get rid of the body of 37-year-old Martha Brailsford by dumping her into the waters off Marblehead with weights attached. He maintained that a rogue wave knocked her overboard. "I hope to convey straight away my profound remorse for my actions regarding the disposal of Martha's remains at sea," he testified. Maimoni denied Brailsford went sailing with him. Three days later, he changed his story, telling police he took Brailsford for a short ride from Salem Willows Pier to Winter Island Pier. a lobsterman pulled her nude body from the sea. An anchor was tied to one of her ankles, and a weighted belt was fastened around her waist. An autopsy revealed she suffered three blunt trauma wounds to her head and was missing several teeth, but the cause of death was drowning. The women said Maimoni seemed friendly at first, but became sexually aggressive once they were away from shore. Full Story: http://www.boston.com/news/local/mas...s_he_panicked/ |
