He said they'd be moving her to a different berth up the river to fit her out...that will take another 2 years. This is the last of the Nimitz class to be built. You should go Katy. The Nimitz class is awesome..30+ kts. While in NJROTC I got to sail aboard the USS Ike CVN69 on her commissoing cruse . Man did I screw up! They have cables and stanchion that pop out of the deck when the aircraft elevators are about to move. They were covered with thick new goobed on graphite grease. They came up and rubbed up the front of my dress white uniform. Funny thinking about it today, but it was a major hassle and screw-up that day to say the least. I always had uniform issue's in the Navy. It's fitting Bush gets a carrier named after him. More so than any other carrier named after a president. After all Bush flew the Avenger torpedo bomber in combat from the carrier USS San Jacinto. He was later awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and three Air Medals for his Navy service in the Pacific theater during World War II. Joe About the closest I could get would probably be watching from this side of the river....my bet is they will shut down the James River Bridge while the Prez is there... |

Oh, that Bush... :-) He was no slouch that's for sure. Did his duty with
honor... unlike his drug-addled son. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "Joe" wrote in message ups.com... katy wrote: They're going to christen the new aircraft carrier at Grummon across the river on Saturday (should be interesting in the middle of a Nor'eater). But not guns much at all. Too bad. I believe guns kill more people than
aircraft carriers, even including Iraq. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "katy" wrote in message ... Capt. JG wrote: Sort of. So, we need to regulate carriers... We already do... |

Maybe you should work on your own state's level first. We don't need a national referendum on this as long as states do what they should. Why call down more Big Brither government? As soon as you ask for national legislation, you're going to end up with a mess...any time the national government regulates something it ends up as a mess. That's what state governments are for. So, go to your state and start there. |
