The Nav is a for real New Zea lander with a real name and a real job...he left because he was sick of ASA and the criticism and backciting.... Gilligan wrote: He was one of the few shreds of sanity this group ever had. Except when he got on a rant about how all Americans are militaristic boors; and how everybody else was a much worse sailor than him, with a much worse boat than his. Plus he welshed on a bet with me, personally I think that is why he left this group. DSK I believe the Navigator is a much better man than you describe. His rants were about the US Government, not the American people (they are NOT the same). He does have a good boat and is a good sailor. Everyone has their limits, he reached his. Personally I think we would all be better off if he returned. Ditto that, but he won't.... We could tempt him with some Wensleydale, Red Liecester, Japanese Sage Derby, Cerphilia,... Wpn't work...we'd have to kill off Doug and I'm not about to do that... I'm a Korean War Veteran and when manly sailor men had disagreements they shook hands and remained friends. Doug and the World Famous Navigator should settle their differences, appreciate each others strong points and get on with the business of clubbing Ole Blubber Boy like a Harp Seal. Lloyd Bonifide Lloyd, When I journeyed to the Gulf to find my boat, my father accompanied me. As we stood looking out at the Gulf, he reminisced about the last time he was in the Gulf, the day the war in Korea was announced. He was a very young sailor, stationed in Pensacola and they had been doing training for days. It was a beautiful day and all the sailors were wondering why on such a day they were not engaged in some important naval lesson. Then the loud speaker broke the silence, and it was announced that "we are at war." Dad said he was happy to be a sailor on that day. My father-in-law was not quite so happy to be in the Army as a foot soldier. He hated the Chinese till the day he died. Scout |
