Default Secret of How Columbus Discovered the New World

The compass!

That was his secret..

Columbus was one of the first seafarers to realize that the compass,
invented hundreds of years before the days of King Ferdinand and Queen
Isabella, was not a child's toy, as almost everyone believed at the
time.

Huh!?!? The compass was commonly used by Europeans for
navigation for at least 200 years before Columbus, and in China
for a couple hundred years before that - possibly longer.

Don't you ever get *anything* right, even by accident?

The compass goes back to ancient Greece, where mathematicians like
Euclid used it to draw circles and bisect line segments.

There were strong rumors that Columbus used his compass to bisect
Isabella

I think that must have been an essay probably written by his kid for school.
It was only pasted here to give the appearance of being relative to the
naval and sailing groups. His real purpose was to spam the group with 127
KB of junk. You all must have done something to tick him off. That's Ed
for ye.
