They are great boats that fit that particular niche in which your were looking. Have you checked out the Seaward message board on Trailersailor.com? It's a very active and helpful group. You can get all your questions answered there by people who really know these boats. Here's a little Seaward trivia: Steve Boone, the bassist from the Lovin' Spoonful, owns a Seaward. Here's another little bit of trivia: The 26RK is NOT a slug, performance-wise . Considering that it is a trailer-sailer designed more with gunkholing and cruising in mind, it sails well, points well, and is surprisingly fast in a wide range of conditions. You will keep up with a lot of non-trailerable 30 footers. But, does it have a big cockpit? |

I have been searching for many months now, and have driven many many miles to look at boats that didn't work for me. I zeroed in on this one and contacted the owner. We hit it off and by coincidence, we're both former Starwind 19 (Precision) boat owners. So (yesterday) I told the wife to grab a jacket and we'd go for a ride. We got in the car and she said, "where to?" and I said, "Ithaca, New York, it's only 8 hours round trip and I'd like to look at a sailboat there." She called me an a--hole and then we went and bought a boat. The ice box doesn't drain into the bilge, I believe it is pumped out but I don't know the particular configuration just yet. There is a manual system for the dagger board in case the elec winch fails. I really dig that open stern. : ) Scout |
