Joe, your boat is not faster than mine. There are certain situations
where a boat like yours would be faster, but generally a 35s5 will be
faster than your boat. In 15 knots I walk away from a Tayana 48 and
that's faster than your boat.
On the Long Island Sound your boat would require it's engine more often
than not, while the 35s5 can almost always sail. Sloco's Express 30
would also leave your boat far behind as would Jeff's PDQ.
Joe, you have a beautiful boat. At sea, or in strong winds she is in
her element. But for much of the coastal and protected waterways most
people sail, she's a slow boat under sail. That's why she has the big
motor. She needs it.

Situations like sailing in wind over 10 kt's, anywhere offshore, in
any kind of sea's, motor sailing, motoring, ect..ect..ect. The only
time your tender box will be faster is in the 3-10 kt wind range on a
flat sound or lake... if I'm not motor sailing.

Joe
RedCloud~Faster than a 35s5 in the real world.

Joe, you must be joking with this 10 knots business. Boats like a 35s5
or an Express 30 or a J35 or even my friend's slow Tayana will be
faster than your boat in MOST conditions. In steep seas with 30 knots
or more, you have the go to boat.
But that's not how most of us...not you either....are sailing, now is
it? Using you motor isn't sailing, but if you want to go that route, my
Dinghy is faster than your boat as well.

Wrong.

Look Rob,
See what I'm pointing at?
http://community.webshots.com/photo/...63212926UfyOMU

Thats one fast hull, shaped like that fastest fish in the sea. In all
conditions over 10 kts and 2 ft ....your 35s5 would fall off behind the
horizon in no time.

Well yeah....

Famous last words of many I'm sure.

now is
it?

Sorry, my Dink is faster with the 15 hp merc on it. And faster sailing
than your pop-a-boat.

Joe, shape is only part of the formula. Weight, LWL and Sail area are
among many factors. As I said, even Sloco's Express 30 is faster than
your boat. If you continue to claim otherwise, you only continue to
exhibit a lack of understanding of what makes one boat faster than the
next. If your boat had such refined sailing speed, she would not be a
motorsailor.
But feel free to post the SA/D, LWL, wetted surface area and so on for
you boat. That would give a very clear indication of her sailing
abilities. So far you have yet to post this basic data required for
making some estimates on performance.
So far you've sounded pretty silly, posting performance claims
exceeding those of a Swan 70. A pic of a dated underbody is hardly
going to support such a claim.

Indeed, that why I said "your 35s5 would fall off behind the

Glad you now understand.

Joe, our 35s5 has a higher SA/D than your boat, and a faster DISP to
LWL ratio and less wetted surface for her length as well.
Feel free to post the specs of your boat.

I notice that you either can't or won't. Hmmm.

I guess Joe is afraid to post the specs on his boat. But I imagine if
he tells enough people his boat is faster than a J35, Express 30, 35s5
or a Swan 70...someone will believe him...someday.

Ah well. Not a very productive troll. Going sailing at 4:00.

Never going to be prductive when you claim your tenderbox is faster
than RedCloud.
RedClouds hull speed is much faster than the 35s5. Simple Logic.
