Scotty, higher ISO settings will boost the camera's sensitivity to
light, but also make images more noisy with less detail.
Read the manual and try the various settings. I prefer the spot focus
setting because I always know if I have a sharp shot that way. Use
batteries rated to 2200 at least and you'll get plenty of shots, even
more if you don't use the screen. You can set an audible signal to let
you know when you have focus lock.
Enjoy.

I'll play with it this w/e. Have a wedding to shoot next
week. Most likely I'll just use the auto settings.
I have 2 pair of rechargeable NiMh batts., don't know what
their rated at. Also carry 2 spare Alk., just in case. I
get them for free.

Got my new camera today. It's way more camera than what I
need. I have a lot of figuring out to do. Like, what's an
ISO?

Here's a pic, right out of the box, of my favorite model.

Film speed. ISO 100-bright daylight. Typically, most one time use cameras
use ISO 400, pictures tend to be grainier.

Taken with a one time use 35mm. View full size to see the graininess. Great
pic, but it would have been better at ISO 100.

This was taken with the Canon, ISO 100. Note the difference in the full size
mode. There are other pics in the album taken in lower light with a
disposable where the graininess is even more obvious.

I can't see any difference, the second is a bit darker.
Anyway, they're both great shots!
