Frozen hook on spinnaker pole - (not used in years!)
Cant get the pole off the deck - aluminum body , it looks like the slide is steel; and I cant get at much of it. Tried various lubes, tried heating the body of the pole around the slide, tried a hammer (there's an opening at the very end of the pole that appears to give me access to the end of the slide; I tried banging away at it with a long bolt and a hammer. I don't have much experience with these poles (that's the idea here, to at last use the damn thing) but I assume that the slide is ,was, spring loaded , and that the opening at the end of the pole is, indeed , the end of the slide - any verification of this would help - |

You might want to look for something in the hole that is retaining the slide and removing it before pounding. Mark E. Williams |
