Frozen hook on spinnaker pole - (not used in years!)

Frozen hook on spinnaker pole - (not used in years!)

Cant get the pole off the deck - aluminum body , it looks like the slide is
steel; and I cant get at much of it. Tried various lubes, tried heating the
body of the pole around the slide, tried a hammer (there's an opening at the
very end of the pole that appears to give me access to the end of the slide;
I tried banging away at it with a long bolt and a hammer.

I don't have much experience with these poles (that's the idea here, to at
last use the damn thing) but I assume that the slide is ,was, spring loaded
, and that the opening at the end of the pole is, indeed , the end of the
slide - any verification of this would help -

There may be a pin through the opening at the end of the pole to keep
the slide from coming out. You might want to look for something in
the hole that is retaining the slide and removing it before pounding.

It might be locked up with mineral deposits, sodium and calcium, you
might try to soak it in vinegar.
