You ever take your boat down the East River, by Roosevelt
Island?

We do it several times each summer. It's a lot of fun. The noise of the
birds as you pass the Brothers is amazing, especially at sunset. And
the old hospital (the Spiderman setting for the climax) is all nicely
lit. Best at night!

I see quite a few sailboats go by. Looks like
pretty strong current.

Oh my!!! Strong current? Good thing you're boat is propped up like
Charlie Brown's Xmas tree!

No. I generally like to head east rather than west for

cruises. Had a boat
on City Island for a number of years, and hit a lot of the

ports in that end
of the Sound, but with BI, Buzzard's Bay, the Elizabeths,

the Vineyard, the
Cape and Nantucket within fairly easy reach of where I now

keep the boat,
plus generally better sailing conditions on the east end,

there's really not
much reason to go the other way.

Don't blame you, I wouldn't go near that area either except
for work. I see quite a few sailboats go by. Looks like
pretty strong current.

Today's current tables show a max of about 4.5 kts at

Hell's Gate. It would
be a very long trip against the current. But a very quick

one with the
current.

Sounds about right, we had to build a cofferdam to work on
the bank and I know they could only move the crane barge at
slack tide IIRC.
BTW, I'll be there tomorrow.

Give me a shout at 646-335-2479. I'll try to remember to

leave my cell on.

You going to be in the area, around 8 AM?

That's about when I get up. Generally get to the office

around 10:00.

Oh, I hope to be headed back through Manhattan by then, but,
you never know. I'll give you a buzz regardless.
