Probably. I asked them if they wanted a discount, and they said no.

What did you do? And why would you ask if they wanted a discount? Are ye
nuts?

A small white paper. Actually, they paid $1900 not $1500. I like them and
their company, and want more of their business.

You need to be more like attorneys--when the client is desirable, charge
more, not less.

Fortunately, I'm not nor will I ever be like that. I charge a fair price and
give clients a break whenever I can.

I treat all clients the same. They all pay the same rates.

But I charge 5% more than most in my industry. That way... if they ask
for a discount as a carrot to more biz, it's not a big deal to knock
off 5%.

Thats not bad advice and works most times Max. When the
desirable(desperate) clients come to you if they know you charge more
IMO it is because they asked the people that charge less to do it...
and they failed. Or they know you can do the job, and know what it is
going to cost them to fail or not fix the need in a hurry.

I do too. Except, I don't put up with jerks. All of the clients I work with
get a discount if I can manage it.
