(blue track)
around Pelee Island ~70 miles and -yes- the first three

legs can be on
the same board, but that is only half the race.

Got it. That's exactly what it means.

There's an expression 'taking long & short boards' for
tacking up a channel that you can *almost* make on one tack,
but have to take a few short tacks to clear in between long
intervals.
