Why assume a narrow power band, why not a higher top speed
and better passing gear? I drove a 5 speed for year that
topped out at ~150 and wished many times for a sixth gear.


Doug, read the reviews for the 407. It does indeed have a pretty poor
and narrow powerband. The 6 speed tranny is a downstream from a much
better engine config.
