Default A Kia for Bob C!!!

May 30, 2006

The best van was the Kia Sedona, also with a 13 percent rollover
rating. That was with vehicle stability control set to off, so in real
world driving the Sedona is more stable than most cars. Adding
best-in-class handling, traction control, stellar braking and crash
test ratings and the Sedona may be one of the safest people movers ever
designed. Kia has essentially exploited many years of chassis dynamics
testing by Honda and Toyota and cherry picked the better qualities for
their own flagship minivan. Toyota has a all new minivan slated for
2009 that will no doubt raise the bar even higher.

See the numbers for the Kia Sedona he

It gets worse....

2006 Kia Spectra 4-DR w/SAB Crash Test Ratings
Frontal Impact - Frontal Impact - Side Impact - Side Impact -
4 4 4

So the little Kia easily displays stronger build than the Corolla. As
all the reviews say...the Korean automakers are not messing around!

Don't forget to include that it is safer than any Subaru ever built.

Next week I'm trading in my Corolla for a Volvo XC.

Now you're being silly. The Tribeca has the highest rating possible for
safety, only the MDX from Acura comes close.

Driver's Side Front Occupant 5 star
Passenger's Side Rear Occupant 5 star
2006 Subaru B9 Tribeca Crash Test Figures
Frontal Head Injury Criterion Chest Deceleration (g's) Femur Load (lbs)

Driver's Side 461 HIC 40g 225lbs 141lbs
Passenger's Side 523 HIC 39g 182lbs 224lbs
Side Thoracic Trauma Index Pelvis Develeration (g's)
Front Occupant 31 TTI 52g
Front Occupant 42 TTI 59g

Bob, you've been trounced by the facts again.

Those facts alone don't define safety. They're only if someone plows into
you. Look at roll over ratings.

Do you think a lead keel on the Tribeca may help it with its propensity to
turtle?

No, it takes a long list of safety related design points to make a safe
car. Cars like the Tribeca and Sedona have them. The Corolla does not.
Is there a specific situation when the Corolla might do better? Of
course. The same could be said for a bike. But in most situations, the
Corolla is not a safe car.
