Default RB's vanity

What price vanity?

Thanks to young Thomas, RB's world is caving in.

Has anyone noticed:

The apartment photos always show a barren interior, devoid of personal
effects. The showpiece is always some "priceless" gadget - a video player or
a lamp.

Old "Heart of Gold" - where are the sailing pictures? I say the boat was
purchased by someone at RB's marina. He did a survey and it was delivered to
his marina, but it isn't his.

Thomas is consuming his time. It is going to get worse. Soon RB's schedule
will be fixed around 5 days a week of school hours - for 12 years!! Not much
time to sail is there?

Thomas expenses will soon take over the "family budget" - no more toys - for
RB!!

Slowly but surely his "lifestyle" is melting away. It's his vanity versus
Thomas's needs. Who will win?

tick,tick,tick,tick, tock!

The theatre room has nothing on the walls. I have quite a few vintage
posters from 40s and 50s, but have been slow to get them on display. I
won't display my more valuable posters (I bought an original Day the
Earth Stood Still poster this year), but I have some really cool stuff
such as Abandon Ship! with Tyrone Power and First Spaceship On Venus
and The Crawling Eye.
Yep...have you noticed? Since Thomas was born we bought a 35 1/2 foot
boat, a new SUV, a new luxury minivan, a 10 foot wide home theatre
projector/screen system, a Nikon D200 DSLR, 4K worth of new lenses, a
new dinghy and engine, new electronics for my boat....and so one!
Man, Bob...you're RIGHT!!! My whole world is caving in!!! Ahhhhhhhhh!
Oops....gotta run. I'm getting the new Sirius radio put in the van
today along with a Garmin C340 GPS navigator (The last is for my old
man-we hope he likes it and we'll just give it to him!).

Those are all depreciating trinkets. Why don't you buy an apartment building
or a strip mall?

The posters are gaining in value. The electronics are well used,
especially the theatre and camera gear. Why worry about depreciation?
Trying to make another statement?

Good question.

Trying to make another statement?

Only an interrogative statement used to test knowledge.

Why don't you buy a luncheonette or something?
