Max,

I think you're close. I found a few at 222. That should fit us in with
the Cruising Class. A add 14 point for NO FLYING sails.

Very very very very different boats ;)
Actually the Ranger 22 and 23 are quite different from each
other although they were designed by the same designer and
built by the same builder. The Ranger 20 (often called the
Kent Ranger because of where it was built, to distinguish it
from the California or Jensen Rangers) is a native PacNW
product. The company is still in business although they
currently build a trailerable tugboat, not sailboats.

I'd suspect the 20 to be similar or slightly higher. But that's just a
guess--I couldn't find any PHRF ratings for the Ranger 20, Kent or
otherwise.

The ratings listed for the R-20 are 222 and 224, the one(s)
in NC race at 222 which I feel is sandbagging a little. I've
raced at two clubs where these boats sail and they can (if
well handled) almost keep up with a Lightning in moderate
(non-planing) conditions. I have also seen them sail out of
these clubs in 25+ knot winds. Impressive little boats!

PHRF Rating
Doug,
Here is a reply from Portland where they do race them. I've found the
222 you're talking about and I figure minus the Spinnaker ( about 11 t0
14 Pts) Gregg's pretty close for the Cruising Class.
That is where I'd Like Don to start. The last fleet over the Line. Give
him a chance to learn. Let him pick up the Mark Bouys once or twice and
he'll start learning to get Boat Speed.
I think I have enough for him to register with Corinthians
Thanks Doug.

I assume you mean Ranger 20. The exact PHRF rating depends upon sail
measurements, but our Portland R20 fleet ranges from about 298 to 316.
Average is about 300. Have fun in the races!
