As I understand it, what you're saying is that it takes 1.5 gallons of ethanol to provide the same effective energy output as 1 gallon of gasoline--strictly an energy output issue. The numbers I was talking about related to inputs to and output of the ethanol itself, and suggested that one used about 2/3 of a gallon of petroleum products to produce 1 gallon of ethanol. The numbers I've seen, with respect to cellulosic ethanol production, are far less. I tried to relocate the website, but had no luck. Max |
