SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- The Navy SEALs (Sea, Air, Land) and Special Warfare
Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC) hosted a recruiting fair at Naval Station San Diego May 4. The event was held to recruit Sailors around the fleet by showcasing some of the equipment that Naval Special Warfare uses and by highlighting some of their daily training. "Right now we are undermanned in both the SEAL and SWCC communities, so we have an initiative to recruit more Sailors in order to get our numbers up by 2010," said Chief Boatswain's Mate (SWCC/SW) Michael A. Smith, Naval Special Warfare motivator. "There is a dropout rate of around 75 percent for Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL school and about 50 percent for SWCC school; so it is really important that we get more Sailors through the door so they can try and be a part of the special warfare community." |
