Bob,

I sure don't like a Spanish Anthem, but let's face it, we do not have an
official language in this country. English is the most accepted but is
not the official language.

Also; I'm not sure I don't agree with that! Somethings I'd rather not
see made official; Church, Calendar, Time zones, Languages etc.
Somethings are better Usage rather than Legalized.

Only my feeling, for what its worth. Worth Zero.

You're just an old anarchist, THom. A world without a specified
calendar or time zones? You really like that kind of chais?

Katy;

I wouldn't like to make a guess on how many Calendar are in use today
and it really doesn't make a difference, Time Zones; Katy just look at
the international Date Line. If it was straight Alaska would be our most
Eastern State as well as our most Western. Same in the South Pacific. If
time Zone are so important; why Daylight Saving Time?
We don't have the slightest idea when Jesus was born but does it hurt to
have two Christmases. Should we legalise something a few of us believe
in? A National Anthem, born close to a 100 years after our Country was
founded, by a English descendent, during a War among ourselves? Let's
get our thinking ?? right? Who am I to say or who are you to tell me?

That's the chaos I was talking about there, Thom....what they've
done is arrange things so people can live more easily...so things
aren't quite exact..at least they're near...
As for the rest, you forget that this nation's history is steeped
not only in Englishness but also intertwined with France, Spain, the
Netherlands, and Portugal. While I am not certain singing the Star
SPangled Banner in Spanish is quite kosher, at least they are
singing it and have some national pride...I suppose you also
complained when Jimi Hendrix performed his great guitar rendition at
Woodstock? For my generation, that rendition says more than the
archaic words set to an old English drinking song....
