A 17-35mm isn't a telephoto, dummy - it's a zoom. Wrong again. Zooms are broken down into FL ranges...wide telephotos, standard zoom and long. You know nothing because you own nothing. On a DSLR the 17-35mm just misses being a standard on the long end. Zoom refers to the action, dopey, not the range. Utter, pish-slavering ********! A 17-35 is a wide zoom. Calling it a wide telephoto was an oxymoronic pooch-screw that was all yours. A telephoto - by definition - is a lens that's longer than a standard lens. A lens with a 17-35 range factored up by 1.5 has an effective range of 25.5-52.5 - only 9.26% of its zoom range is beyond 50mm - and you call that a telephoto?!? According to you, a 25.5mm lens is a telephoto!!!! You'll be claiming you're a photographer next! If I hadn't fished you out of that LIS cess pool, I'd have you skewered and sizzling by now. Oh! While Nutsy goes ON & ON about lenses, most of us do get very decent
photographs for about 40 cents or less. Nutsy, with all his expensive equipment does it for about $500.00 or more. I can carry my Camera in my pocket. Nutsy has several he can carry in his pocket. Difference of cost;---Plenty I store my camera on a Dock, which is a charger and printer; Lord only knows just how and where Nutsy maintains and stores his Equip. Am I happy with my set-up YES! Is Nutsy happy with his Yes! Could I use his set-up effectively? I don't think so. Can Nutsy use his set-up effectively--- Good Question? Jury is still out. To Each his own. I'm sure we're both happy. I am glad I can use his expert knowledge ( Which I don't have) to my advantage. Now that said; Camera and Equip. be Damned. It's what they are and there is no escape. Nutsy has a "racing" sailboat - will he ever race it? No, he just brags about it. He's got these super duper AWD SUV's. Will they ever be used to their potential? No? He has all this camera equipment. Are his pictures that good? No. He has a big telescope - in a pollution shrouded wasteland. The list just goes on and on. These material possessions are substitutes for something he can never have. It's all symbolic for what is wrong at Nutsy's core. That's why I out troll him every time. That's why he has to fight to justify everything about his life, including his hodge podge of also-ran camera gear. He's seeking validation from everyone but not from the one person who can truly give it. That's why his telescope is third rate and his boat is one huge blister devoid of character. If his home theater set up was any more hokey he'd be better off with a viewmaster and 45 RPM records. He will have all of eternity to contemplate amongst the fires and lava in hell why his life on earth has led him to the sulphurous netherworld below. |

Actually, it's mostly a lot of noise with the express purpose of funding
Bob's own agrandizement as a troll. I have nothing against Bob in particular, but it's just not worth reading, as it's never ending and mostly boring. The threads Bob starts are mostly about himself, how he's superior to everyone else in every way. For threads that he doesn't start, his major contributions are to put someone else down, which is fuel for other trolls and sick individuals. It's rare that he actually has something interesting to say about sailing. I've been reading them for years. No more. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "Thom Stewart" wrote in message ... suspension and drivetrain when you scrape across something. Plastic skidplates are even more of a joke, as much as the "Outback" in the real outback: There are all kinds of off road applications out there and the Outback is used in plenty. It's one of the top cars around in PA for example where many homes are set in unpaved areas and outselling all other cars there and only trailing pickup trucks in sales. The undercarriage transmission cover is not just for rocks and you could find almost the same thing on the original and amazing Toyota Landcruiser. |

The Landcruiser had 1/8" steel skid plates. I pulled them because they kept bending into the driveshaft. The transmission did not have a skid plate, except for a little bendy thing. My trusty LC went up both the Como Lake Road (Colorado's worse!) and Elephant Hill (Utah's worse) at night! It is a truly amazing Landcruiser! Amen! |
