Now you're talking Bob.
Bout time someone started talking quality in modern cameras. Not second quality fluff. That Hasselblad is sweet, I might order one tonight. I bet Bobspit could learn allot about cameras by looking at the application gallery on the web-site. Joe |

I seriously doubt you even have an inkling of where that type of camera has been used. How many focal plane arrays have you designed? hmmmm? Go back to your consumer world Wal Mart cameras and leave the precision stuff to those of us who really use it. Real men use real cameras. Here's your level of photography: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/tpphotog/index.html Aahahahaahahahahahahahahahahaaaaa!!!! Amen! |

That is one fine camera, way beyond the means of RB in both expense and functionality. I think you should get one and you could make it a business expense. In a world of compromise, some men dont - Hasselblad! I bet Oz owns a Hasselblad! Glory! |

As I said, you have no idea where these cameras are used or for what.
They are not found in studios. In fact I know of two in use right now by the Museum of Natural History, but not in any capacity you can fathom. Still awaiting your comments. So far you've posted nothing but hot air. RB 35s5 NY |

RB 35s5 NY Almost every picture taken in space was taken by a Hasselblad. They've been on every shuttle flight, at least 5 cameras each!. The first footprint on the moon - photographed by Hasselblad! Hasselblad is also big into aerial photography. They're used in military and aerospace regularly. In fact, I picked up a used Hasselblad aerial recon camera and housing down on Canal St in NYC. I bought it by the pound and resold it for much, much more!!! aaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaa!!!!! Hasselblad - a real camera! Not junk!! I bet Joe is buying one right now! I hope he gets that 22 megapixel model and all the lenses! Glory! |

They've been on every NASA spaceflight since the first orbital Mercury missions. Hasselblad was the only company interested in adapting their bodies and lenses to NASA's needs at the time. After seeing how much "free publicity" Hasselblad got, every camera company showed interest. But NASA had what they wanted and stuck with the 'Blads. Max |

Nikon is now NASA's #1 flight camera.
http://www.nikon.co.jp/main/eng/news...f5eva_e_00.htm Poor Bob C. is stomped again. Then again you have to wonder what Bob might use a 22MP or higher for? Does he know that a 4MP D2Hs makes the same quality 8X10 prints and has even better control over dynamic range? Bye, bye, Bobby! RB 35s5 NY |

Who cares about 8x10 prints? What about running the pixels into a DSP for analysis. What kinds of analysis? Like looking for slight ground collapses due to tunnel, a surface wake in mm from a submarine running hundreds of meters below the surface, changes in water reflectance due to oil films, subtle changes in wave structure due to winds, old river beds under the sand, buried objects in the sand, land mines, etc. Go play with your toy camera and your 8 x 10's. Science has much better and more sophisticated uses for photography. Since you know so much about cameras, how many lines of C code does it take to write a recursive low pass filter using a bilinear transformation to discern the chromolesence and luminesence characteristics of a black and white 16 MP digital photograph? Tell us Robbie! Tell us!!!! Bwaaahahahahahahahahahaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Scorched like a flounder in lava!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amen! |

"Martin Baxter" wrote in message What the hell is "Chromolesence", and what's it got to do with black and white images? It's the humologuous transformation of a D1 type system conformal to a one to one mapping of the gray scale. The drawback of this method is dynamic range reduction but it does give remarkable contrast enhancement. It's very much like the way the eye works. The eye has a timewise great long term dynamic range and short term great sensitivity. The eye takes time to adjust to nominal light intensity and then can discern fine levels of light intensity. In the eye it's driven by chemical concentrations, in humologuous gray scale transformations it's mathematical. The running average window is much longer which establishes the baseline interjection recursive elements. From this baseline, non logarithmic methods can be used to determine the intensity granularity of the digitized black and white image. Linear analysis gives much greater sensitivity than logrithmic analysis, plus phase information is not lost. The reason it's called "chromolescence" is that the original work was done for color images, which is a 7 vector space and then reduced to black and white images which are a 4 vector space. Just search Rabiner, Gold, Oppenhiem, Schafer and Tribolet. Glory! |

Bad new, Bob. Huffy (under a different name of course) makes premium high end bike frames and developed the breaking systems along with Mafak some years back also found on today's racers. Seems like you know about as much about bikes as you do cameras! Funny that you own neither. RB 35s5 NY |

"Vito" wrote in message ... "Bob Crantz" wrote in message . .. http://www.hasselblad.se/ How does the resolution, grey scale, et al compare to 4x5 and 8x10 film? It's a function of lens size and film quality. The camera body actually has very little to do with anything (notice Robbie's emphasis on camera body). In higher speed films the morphology of the shuttering mechanism comes into play. If it is light tight and mechanically stable a shoe box will take great pictures. Amen! |
