Went for a ride on a 38' Donzi today. Has 2 ...1100hp engines.

Hit 116 knots on the lake. I found it hard to drink and talk.

Steve burned 160 gal high octane 5.85 a gallon fuel.

Glad to be back on RedCloud...I was parched!

Anythings a powerboat compared to your clorox bottle boomless day
sailor.

Have you been able to get that plastic crap outta the slip yet?
No.....I did not think so.

You could lose your captain's license over this.

Hard to lose an expired licences Lloyd.

BTW there is no speed limit on Clear-Lake and I was just a passenger
anyway.
The guy who owns the boat is also my dentist.

I see cigarboats as great to do once, but then what? Not worth the
money, and IMO not much skill involved.

I'd be looking for a new dentist. You're paying for all that shine.

Amen!

Why would you lose your license over driving 116 knots?

The guy who owns the boat is also my dentist.

The skill is in tuning the hull & engines & props to work
together to get the most speed out of the boat. Driving one
of these is not fun IMHO, too loud & the motion is rather
violent.

Years ago I was part of a deal involving reciept of an
"offshore racing boat" as partial paymeny of a bad debt.
Naturally I was thinking sailboat, it turned out to be a 40'
beast with 3 engines, not tuned up in any respect of course.
The thing was probably 2 or 3 owners post-drug-siezure. We
did get the engines running smoothly at least and did a
number of runs over 100 knots. PITA and never did see a cent
return.

I dunno if one of these
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/phm-1.htm
could break 100 but I know for a fact they can break 80.
Prbably if not loaded, they could do a lot more.

How come they were all decommissioned in 1993, some after only 11 years
of service?

Cheers
