I dunno about stomped, and I don't think Paul Elvstrom &
Buddy Melges together could have made our boat go faster
than theirs.

If you race in any serious competition, you will meet girls
& Frenchmen who are very good sailors. No matter how good
you are, some days some of them will beat you.

I've met a few sailors who claimed to have never lost a
race. I've never met one who said that, who had won anything
big.

Oh well sounds like you had a blast.

We had fun.

... I stayed in and worked in tuning
the La Brisa. Got a nice headsail off a Snipe. Heading out early in the
morning tomorrow. Suppose to be foggy and 10 kts!


Monday morning sail... hmm, I like it. Doesn't 10 knots of
wind blow the fog away? Good luck with the Snipe jib.

I did! The water was a gunblue with a heavy silver quit like sky, Wind
was steady as a rock first hour out of the north at 10. Sailed to the
new high rise condo site, by the park so Skipper could bark at the
colored folks crabbing. Across the lake to the South the stern wake
sounded like one of the water falls in a big hot tub, Kingfishers
diving all arounds us. On the south sside we sailed by Pelican pilons,
each had a white or Brown Pelican preening feathers from a long night
of fishing, then it happened, the wind just about stopped, the water
fall wake turned into a few slow whirlpools spinning off the transom.
had to row off the south shore and caught just enough breeze to barely
make it back to the slip. Once I doused and stowed the sails the wind
started picking back up :0( The Snipe 125% head sail was great.

Might head back out after work.

Don't you think it is about time to explain to Katy about "No See 'em"
and up river moorage? It's getting about to that season, isn't it?

We're already getting mosquitos & ticks. I think they'll
thin out once the snakes come out of hibernation

Katysails dock isn't really "up river" I would say, it's
right at the mouth of the Trent and the Neuse is about 1 1/2
miles wide there. The Trent has a fixed highway bridge not
far upriver, which limits boats going that way (a shame,
because it's an awesome hurricane hole), on the Neuse you're
not 'up river' until you get to the first set of islands a
couple miles above New Bern. At that point, the river has
noticable current.
