Per a resounse above - the unpainted thing is a ring of field poles. It is called a salient pole mancine as opposed to round rotor. You could could them and devide by 3600 to figure out what speed it ran (sllooww). Matt, thanks for the explanation. This machinery is a bit outside my experience and I appreciate the chance to learn a little about it. Is there a particular type of plant that uses these generators? Regards Doug King |
