Of course! It's right on the Pacific Ocean.

Gianka...

Like Mr. Ganz suggested you will have plenty of sailing
opportunities... even at this time of the year. He and I
both reside in California ajoining the Pacific Ocean... so
we are somewhat familiar with the wx conditions that will
exist during your stay.

Marina Del Ray will be minutes (well sort of) from where
you will be residing... plus there is the Port of Los Angeles
and/or Long Beach that have charters or whatever... just
to mention a few.

You also might consider hooking up with Mr. Ganz (the
preceeding poster) who's back yard is the San Francisco
Bay. I believe he can and does charters...

His area is about a 6 1/2 hour commute by car from where
you will be situated... or a 3/4 hour flight out of LAX. Just a
thought... if you will have some time to spare.

Any how... welcome aboard and best regards.

Hey Bill My Uncle had a cabin near lake Topaz. Are you familiar

with the area?

Yeah Joe... I know of the area to some extent. I'm a retired freight
hauler (30 years with Western Gillette/Roadway Express) and for
awhile had a bid run from our L.A. terminal to Reno.

Needless to say we were basically routed up 395 unless the snow
got to heavy... then we would go by way of Fallon out of Bishop.

But I still remember those trips down through Walker Canyon and
that casino by Lake Topaz. A lot of us would take a break there
at that casino.

I know the lake use to be good for fishing... but at this moment I'm
not very knowledgeable about small craft capabilities. I think I will
do a "Google" on Lake Topaz and bring myself up to speed on the
boating issue.

It might be a nice location (summer time that is) for a person with a
"Mac" type set up.

I also have a buddy from work... that retired and bought a cabin
up there.

Thanks for commenting about that locale... it brought back some
old memories. Most of which were very pleasant... with the except-
ion of the time I went off the road and crashed a few miles north of
Bridgeport and dumped my trailer loaded with car batteries in the
Walker Creek. Now days there would have been Hell to pay... but
back then the hazmat issues were not being dealt with like they are
today.

Best regards

Bill

P.S. And Scotty don't you be saying nothin about us card carrying
freight haulers. (smile)

Default hi everybody!

You will find some of the best offroad trails on earth just across the
street from the casino about 1/4 mi towards CA. The wind thru some
amazing canyons with great views of the lake, They were gold miner mule
trails over the peak to California. Just keep going past the sign that
says Danger Do not Pass, ya gotta take down the chain too, the trail
ends about 4 mi and you have to back a few miles or so. You can walk
over to see CA. Great stream to cross to! We'd always rent a 4wd out of
Reno when we would visit. Get the full coverage!!!!!

I love the high deserts and serria's, carson city, reno, taho, ect. If
I ever lived away from water.... that would be a number 1 choice. That
liberal baffoon OZ is now visiting the area, some of the best snow
sking on earth...the lucky dog.

I do more listening than talking on my CB, but I'm on the PA turnpike a lot.
I often hear truckers talking about women who seem to enjoy exposing their
breasts to the truckers (some kind of sport I would guess). Have you found
this to be true or is it trucker folklore?

No Scout... it is definitely *not* folklore. Strange stuff happens
out there on the "big road" particularly when you get in or around
the metropolitan areas.

Over the years... I've seen the good the bad and the ugly. From
sexy exhibitionists... perverts... police pursuits... and horrific
accidents.

With the advent of the citizen band radio (for mobile communica-
tions) back in the late Sixties... and the visual vantage point that
a trucker has while seated in a cabover or convential rig... he or
she is pretty much on top of the situation (no pun intended) as to
what is going on and/or coming along.

I believe Scotty who still gets out on the "big road" will attest to
this highway phenomenon.

Bill

Note: My CB handle was/is "Willy" and my call sign on the other
bands is N6TGC.

Definitely not a myth. I travelled by big rig across the US a couple of
times. It happened to us several times.
