Well, maybe Max overstated the case in using the word "always."

That is true. What I was implying is that when Doug and I have a
particularly poignant disagreement over an issue, he resorts to ad hominems
and insults. Perhaps "always" is an overstatement, but there are relatively
few times when he fails to engage in such attacks under those circumstances.
Formerly Jon responded to arguments similarly, but recently he's been a
model of reasonability and restraint. Doug could learn from him.
