I disagree Bill. It's a self-limiting boat.
Captain Ganz I am very familiar with your position relative to the capabilities or the lack there of... pertaining to the Mac- Gregor 26 X/M. I have followed your postings on other threads having to do with the "Mac". I might add that I found your com- mentary very usefull and respect your opinions along those lines. Previous to my current interest in the MacGregor 26... I was considering a 30-40 foot sloop or trawler but gave up the chase after carefull consideration of my own limitations. More specific- ally I wanted to be able to operate single handed... and found that at my age (67) I would find such a sailing vessel rather intim- idating for me physically. So I looked into a trawler (I believe it was a 34' Mainliner) and after trashing around for several hours outside the Ventura Harbor (California) I came into bunker... which cost around $ 75.00... for the fuel I had expended. I decided that ain't going to work either... :-) Like Dirty Harry use to say... "a man must know his limitations". So as a result I kind of became enamored with the MacGregor con- cept. Needlessto say... it appears that thousands of others have as well. And yeh... it's kind of a "wannabee" situation with the Mac... but what the heck... for a lot of us it's better than nothing! Best regards Bill |
