I have been a "lurker" on this new group for a year or so. Needless to
say I find the various postings entertaining and in some cases quite informative. I can understand Mr. Crants reluctance to have his vessel ownership be known... particulary with this bunch. (smile) Mac owners... are sometimes like a ******* calf looking for it's mother...the stinkpot crowd much less the sailors show them no respect. IMHO the MacGregor 26 offers the best of both worlds... for someone with limited resources and/or nautical abilities or whatever. Yes Mr. Crants... what an interesting revelation thanks to Rob's reporting. heh heh Best regards Bill (Who is thinking about purchasing a new 26M this Spring) |

Crantz ain't Gilligan.
The really sad, lonely and pathetic part is that he's not Crantz either. RB 35s5 NY |

Crantz is a looney and it's obvious he has no boat or ever sailed. What
the hell is he doing here? He's obviously some religious wacko, but he's not converting anyone. Friggin nut job loser! |

wrote in message (Who is thinking about purchasing a new 26M this Spring) You might want to consider the bigger sisterships of that model... the Benneteau 35s5 or the Macgregor 65! Both vessels exhibit the performance and versatility made renown by the 26M line. CM |

I disagree Bill. It's a self-limitiing boat. One needs to continually strive
for better. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com wrote in message oups.com... I have been a "lurker" on this new group for a year or so. Captain Ganz I am very familiar with your position relative to the capabilities or the lack there of... pertaining to the Mac- Gregor 26 X/M. I have followed your postings on other threads having to do with the "Mac". I might add that I found your com- mentary very usefull and respect your opinions along those lines. Previous to my current interest in the MacGregor 26... I was considering a 30-40 foot sloop or trawler but gave up the chase after carefull consideration of my own limitations. More specific- ally I wanted to be able to operate single handed... and found that at my age (67) I would find such a sailing vessel rather intim- idating for me physically. So I looked into a trawler (I believe it was a 34' Mainliner) and after trashing around for several hours outside the Ventura Harbor (California) I came into bunker... which cost around $ 75.00... for the fuel I had expended. I decided that ain't going to work either... :-) Like Dirty Harry use to say... "a man must know his limitations". So as a result I kind of became enamored with the MacGregor con- cept. Needlessto say... it appears that thousands of others have as well. And yeh... it's kind of a "wannabee" situation with the Mac... but what the heck... for a lot of us it's better than nothing! Best regards Bill |

what the heck... for a lot of us it's better than nothing! You can't argue with that. Some folks do just fine with the Mac26 and the M appears to be a superior sailboat to the older design. I wish you luck with her. RB 35s5 NY |
