Looks like you can see the keel root.

I was not on the boat when this happened. I am told it was crossing the
Vic-Maui finish line in the Molokai channel when she got hit by a big
gust and rounded up. The picture was taken as she came up. Apparently
the spreaders were in the water. She was actually knocked down three or
four times before they got the tack pennant on the kite (8000 sq ft)
cut. Lost one guy over the side but the committee boat picked him up.
The original of this photo is hanging in the Lahaina Yacht Club.

Wow, That kite has as almost as much sq ft sail as all of Redclouds
sails together.

Do you know of any drawing or pictures of your boat out of the water?

Id like to see the shape of her keel

I note that there are no pictures of her on our website where you an see
her keel. I'll try and get one for you.

Basically, she is a full keel (10' draft) with a cutaway forefoot. She
originally had a centre board as well but that was removed in the 20s
when her mainmast was shortened. The bottom of the keel is flat and she
sits on it nicely. The front of the keel is around the front of the
life rafts and the back is directly below the helm.

There is a book written on her called "HMCS ORIOLE, The Peoples Boat."
by Shirley Hewitt. It has diagrams and pictures of her since she was built.

I have posted her lines at:
http://community.webshots.com/myphot...ecurity=Nkmmek

The interior has changed since these were drawn but I don't have any new
line drawings small enough to scan.

Thanks Gaz,

But the lurkers are clogging things up.

All I get is this

We're sorry...
....due to a high volume of page requests, this Webshots page is not
available right now.
I check it out in the morning when all the lurkers are at work.

Joe
