Gary, The 29 is influenced by the Gulf 32. Newport Yachts brought the rights from Bill and were the builders. They put the top half on a Newport 30 hull.... Made a great sailor but no wear near the room of the 32. The 29 will sail circles around the 32 and is a pretty damn good light air boat. It is a great boat for the NW. I sail her year round.. With the inside helm and a Red Dot heater, the PH is very comfortable in cold weather. http://community.webtv.net/tassail/ThomPage I see that the hull is completely different from the 32. That fin keel makes a huge difference. |

You would think a snow bound French Canook like Mooron would know how
to pronounce Biloxi. Joe |

Gary,
We race, daysail and do a few overnights on "Ringmaster" an Express 30 located on the Chesapeake. I've owned the boat for 9 years and can't see where going bigger would be any more fun. The boat is easy to singlehand and has plenty of room for crew to race. "Ringmaster" is in outstanding condition due to a lot of elbow grease every spring. All maintenence, repairs and upgrades are done by me. Here are a few photos of the boat in light stuff. http://journals.aol.com/sailloco/SAILLOCOSPage/ Before sailing I was a motorhead and have owned various streetrods and American V8 powered sports cars. I spent 25 years on the road as a sales rep and manager for a major consumer electronics company. Took an early retirement deal. |

There are a few around here and they sail well to their handicap. They are a popular 'round the cans racer. Yours looks in good nick. Nice to meet you. |

A CS27--Canadian built boat and, I understand, the smallest boat Camper & Nicholson ever designed. CS (Canadian Sailcraft) boats are tough. We (the Navy) have a CS 36 we use for crew training when new crew get sent to Oriole (the Navy's 102' Owens ketch). CS boats are popular around here because of their legendary toughness. Many have been sailed far and wide. Nice to meet you Dave. |

Many have been sailed far and wide. Nice to meet you Dave. Not only tough. The CS I'm most familiar with is the 30, and it's pretty fast, as well as tough. The only thing I don't like is the Volvo engines they used, which are hard to start in cold weather, and parts are absurdly priced. Commodore Joe Redcloud My Dad had a Volvo in his boat and it always ran. I have never had any experience with them. My boat has a Yanmar and Oriole has a Detroit 671, a 14.5KW Yanmar gennie and a 3.5 KW Westerbeke. All four run and start fine. My favourite sound is the Detroit. I want that noise for a cell phone ring! |
