Gary;

Welcome aboard!!

I'm the Old Patriarch of the Group. Not a charter member but pretty damn
close.

I sail a Gulf 29 Pilothouse Sloop, which I just put up for sale. Age 79
1/2 years and beaching myself this winter.

Sail out of the Pacific Northwest. My pictures are listed in my Home
Page/ Signature.

It's a strange group but fun! It's made up of all kinds. Some very sharp
sailors, with a lot of knowledge and some with a lot of thoughts not
worth a ****. You'll soon be able to tell for yourself.

We do like one another. Those that we don't like are soon gone; by their
own choice. We don't cater to anyone.

Thom, Nice to meet you. I like your boat. I think it is a Garden
design as well isn't it? The Gulf 32 is anyway. I am a big fan of
pilothouses. After spending so much time in wet cockpits I am sold.

Welcome aboard Gary. I'm Scout.
I've been posting here for 6 years, but not always as Scout.

I've lost: my sailboat in a card game, my kids to the education system, my
wife to a car accident, my hair to my genes, my back to hard labor, my
eyesight to middle age, my hands to carpal tunnel, my knees to football, my
teeth to sugar, my lungs to asbestos, my fortune to bad habits, and my faith
in government to G.W.

I rarely post anything here along the lines of sailing advice, but I have
gotten a lot of help here. I sometimes post with a different name when I
feel like slapping someone without dragging Scout into it. I don't like to
argue, but I do like to throw peanuts.

Why? It's all grease and gas, bile, nits and nats, smiles, tits and tats,
miles, Bubbles and hats, trials, and occasionally a gem or two.

Nice boat, love the stove!

I started living aboard in 1981 on a San Juan 24 which we
cruised to Florida where we swapped it for a 1939 Tahiti
Ketch. We cruised the Tahiti back up to Maryland and sailed
it around the Chesapeake until about 5 years ago when we
bought a CT41. Until a couple of months ago I worked in the
boatyard next door, grinding bottoms and all that. The CT
needs a rig so nothing I say is worth listening to:^

Frank, no pseudonym or sockpuppets, been sailing for close to forty
years, no current boat, have owned three, last was Columbia 8.7M.
sailed many others, live in Mississippi.

I try to avoid (after realizing the futility of it) posting to
political trolls or Boob's puppet show. doesn't give me much to
respond to. I'd suggest you engage this site for entertainment and
not look for any worth in the ravings of any regulars. Although if
you ask an on topic question, knowledge abounds.

Looking for next boat. Katrina has slowed down my logistics plan for
getting that done.

Hi Frank. I think Katrina has slowed a lot of plans.

Katrina just gives you more opportunities. There
must be some gems on the market at bargain
basement prices, that can be fixed for a little sweat
equity.
