Loco, Katy, neal, Scotty, John, Joe, Thom and most others here ALL have
slower less roomy less fun boats compared to the stunningly quick and
richly appointed First 35s5!

Why do you want to faster? Your boat was built as a family cruiser and
is rated around 170-180 last time I looked. Same as Catalina and
Pearson's of that vintage. It is what it is and that should be
fine...but...you some things that worked for me...

1) Untie the dock lines
2) get a folding prop
3) Get new sails or have old ones recut
4) Install tracks for better sheeting angles
5) Clean bottom and remove wax from hull
6) mark shaft log so you can alighn bladed with keel
7) Refine your trim habits
8) Lose weight

Nothing improves performance like new sails. I bet even Loco would
agree with that one.

So you stop picking on me.

1) Untie the dock lines

Won't it float away?

2) get a folding prop
3) Get new sails or have old ones recut

OK, maybe next year.

4) Install tracks for better sheeting angles
5) Clean bottom and remove wax from hull

Do keep bottom clean.

6) mark shaft log so you can alighn bladed with keel

I've got a big 3 blade prop. Great for backing.

7) Refine your trim habits

Too lazy.

8) Lose weight

Yes, Mom.

RedCloud ~ Steady 9 knots, 42 ft without wasting space on a fatboy
staircase on the stern. No blisters or smiles, 7' headroom...
wheelhouse room for 8, More AC, Generator, More sails, stronger, more
water, fuel, holding tank, better navigation equipment, better pumps,
better fire fighting, lifesaving equip, better dink, better liferaft,
more freezer space, fridge space, better stove, larger shower & head,
TV,s Stereos, Computers, Lighting, Sonar, larger bunks with more leg
room, better interior fit and trim using better grades of wood, not the
veneer crap all production boats have, Better chronometers, and
barometers...oh and about 3 times the interior space as your little
plastic bat cave has.

Not that I'm bragging. Just giving you a small glimpse of reality.

Joe, around here your boat is a powerboat. It's too heavy and couldn't
win a race against my boat in a million years.

Race you across the Atlantic in winter for pink slips. New York to
London.

You would be out of the running just when RedCloud started streaching
her legs.

I would finish in comfort.... and you would be batter and bruised
beyond reconition.. if your boat did not fall apart and somehow made it
across.

Joe
