No..... it isn't but I'm certain you must have a store like it. I got mine
from the local chandlery here in Canada.... but to tell the truth... I agree with Bart on the Tiller Tamer..... use adjustable shock cords and cam cleats. I've replaced mine 3 times due to the breakage he mentioned. CM wrote in message oups.com... Is West Marine in Australia? I looked for it but cant find it listed. |

It is a shame. Good idea, crap materials. Also I found
it very slow to free when I needed the tiller free. That could be dangerous. "Capt.Mooron" wrote No..... it isn't but I'm certain you must have a store like it. When I had a tiller pilot, sometimes I'd turn it off, to save the
battery, but still use it to hold the tiller to a set position. Basically you had a hole in the tiller that a pin dropped into, was very quick to pull out. I suppose you could make something similar using an adjustable telescoping pole. SBV "Bart Senior" .@. wrote in message ... It is a shame. Good idea, crap materials. Yeah Scotty.... but the basic idea of the tiller tamer is a good one. It
needs to be re-engineered and made out of stainless steel with a quick release lever as well as a more functional clutch assembly. I might try to build one this winter in my machine shop. I have the tools and raw metal stockpiled. Turn some pieces on the metal lathe.... etc. CM "Scotty" wrote in message When I had a tiller pilot, sometimes I'd turn it off, to save the battery, but still use it to hold the tiller to a set position. Do you have any plans? Can you send me a drawing as I might have a go at building one myself. I have just about every type of woodworking machine there is but not a lot in the way of metal working equipment. Errol |

I saw a cool deal on an old wooden boat one time...There was a bronze plate on the deck under the tiller, maybe a foot long, with 'teeth' sticking up. Then there was a small bronze flange on the tiller that would slot into any of the notches. Seahag |

On the Mac, I used to put a boat cushion on top of the lazerrette and under the tiller, weight down the tiller with a small bucket of water. Worked real well. Scotty |
