So far, your boats have been selected on price, haven't they? Why do
you think that the second half of your life will be more successful than the first half? Nope. Tartan 37 and C&C 37 are among the better used production boats around period. We could easily spend less with a Hunter or Beneteau, but that would suck. Price has nothing to do with it. The only other boats I'd be interested in would new, which is not smart money. I don't see what my financial capability has to do with anything, but I see that it somehow matters to you. Perhaps you can show the group better boat choices? RB |

You wouldn't have all the lack-of-maintenance issues your last boat had. And if money is really no object, buy an Oyster. The quality difference is huge. ... Nope. Tartan 37 and C&C 37 are among the better used production boats around period. We could easily spend less with a Hunter or Beneteau, Depends on the age of the boat, doesn't it? A new Beneteau could cost an awful lot more than a used Tartan. but that would suck. Why? A Beneteau First series will outperform a Tartan any day. If you are genuinely interested in sailing, then the Tartan should come a poor second to a First. A Tartan cannot provide the sailing thrills that a First can. A Tartan won't do 9 kts, whereas a First will do more than 15 kts. Price has nothing to do with it. The only other boats I'd be interested in would new, which is not smart money. Why not? I'm beginning to have to do winter maintenance on my boat. I really don't like it at all!! One of my batteries has failed, and finding a replacement is proving to be a bit of a hassle. I don't see what my financial capability has to do with anything, but I see that it somehow matters to you. Perhaps you can show the group better boat choices? Look at Malo boats. They are really nice! If they could go faster, I would get one tomorrow. Unfortunately, I don't think that you could find a cheap secondhand Malo, so it is probably out of your reach. When I am a bit older, and performance becomes less important than comfort, then I will buy a Malo. Regards Donal -- |
how's this?
