Default Reality Check....

To note I've taken no side but my own during this over scrutinized and
over-reacted display of mass panic by several of the regulars here.

The screams of the sky is falling and the wanton finger-pointing, name
calling and slurs associated indicates a belief that this Usenet group is an
entity that can be harmed. What absolute foolishness. Complaints of having
to wade through chaff to find kernels of wit is as ridiculous as the
possibility a cadre of posters can destroy a forum.

It is only a forum... like hundreds of thousands like it.... it belongs
to the American Sailing Association who have largely abandoned it for years
.... save an automated posting sequence.

No individual posting here is immune from attack... to think they are is
delusional. Any action will result in a reaction... the job is to weigh that
before hand and realize that the consequences may have required a better
assessment of the rational of the actions prior to undertaking them. If you
are not prepared to think.. then prepare for confrontation. Crying towels
are available at the check-in.

In short.... what I've seen here so far is an ugly display of mob violence,
insults, slurs, gossip, lies, vulgar innuendo, vigilantly tactics and
back-stabbing.... which is par for the course if you think about it. :-)

Keep Up the Good Work!

All true, CM, but Gawd, it's boooorrrrrrring.

OTOH I had a nice tho short sail this afternoon, after working most of
last night starting a data load for all the environmental & track data
collected on the last cruise. A little building work, a little reading
(not this n/g) and then sailing on the bay. Bugger-all wind, just
enough to keep the sails from flapping as I drifted on the zephyrs back
to the beach outside my back gate. Passed a big school of fish feeding
on baitfish on the way - speaking of feeding frenzies - and wished I'd
taken a spinning rod with me but what the hey - another day. After all,
I can do this most any time.

The water is crystal clear ATM and I drifted over flathead and eagle
rays in the shoal water. A sailboat underway doesn't disturb them like
a powerboat of even a kayak does.

Life's a bitch, hey. Just finished reading a book written by a guy who
sailed a 30' gaff cutter from England to Newfoundland & Labrador back
in 1933. Far more entertaining than the drivel passing for wit round
here. I spent years playing on a.p, not no real interest in pointless
flamewars these days. Unless there's some wit involved of course.

Far as I'm concerned it's all a bit of a non event. It's easy to kf the
main morons (no resemblance intended) and continue on. You & I aren't
always gonna agree but I doubt either of us would have it any
different. Neal OTOH is just a boring, bitter, predatory wannabe.

Thursday night I'm on a plane again for a couple weeks at dry dock,
inspecting the latest crop of dents. Keep stirring the pot but do me a
favour - add some wit!
