OT Kudos to NY Times
dave, TAKE YOUR POLITICAL BULL **** SOMEWHERE ELSE.
"Dave" wrote in message ... Since I'm a frequent critic of the Times's less than objective news reporting, I think it only fair to give them two pats on the back for forthrightness in one of today's editorials. Back when Clinton's administration was being stymied by the Republican minority, the Times was urging fervently that the filibuster should be abolished. Today they acknowledged that after spending 10 years in the minority wilderness, they have decided they were wrong. Second, and equally commendably, the editors forthrightly acknowledged that "traditionally" the filibuster has not been used against judicial nominees. They didn't, as some have, try to construct a far-fetched argument that the Republicans had frequently resorted to some kind of "filibuster-equivalent" conduct. A refreshing breath of candor on both scores. |
