![]() "Joe" wrote in message oups.com... Yes Spring is here. Isnt it great? Im ready to roll the clocks back. Where in Canada do you live Mooron? Good Grief Joe.... I thought I made that clear on many occasions.... currently in Nova Scotia, Halifax ... near Peggy's Cove. In a seaside community called Bayside... on Shad Bay. Prior to that I was in the Northwest Territories for over 20 years. NovaScotia is the province I grew up in though. Google the areas to enlighten yourself to some of the most beautiful spots in Canada! I've hitch-hiked through Texas with a cute blonde girl years ago.. despite all the warnings to not do that. We had a wonderful time there... everybody we met looked after us and the hospitality was excellent. Only one attempted mugging in Houston... but the poor sod didn't think he could pull the gun out from his belt faster than I could unsheathe the machete from my girlfriend's knapsack. It was a stalemate.... so I offered to buy him a coffee.. but he saw a cop crossing the street and took off. When we were in San Diego prior to Texas we wandered into a portion of town where I guess we shouldn't have been in ... we didn't realize it. When confronted by a group of Hispanics and blacks, they asked us if we had noticed anything different about the area.. We both said yes.. you folks are way more friendly! They pointed out the colour of the people... we said we were from Canada and hadn't noticed that. They all laughed and we talked.. told them we were looking for a movie theatre. They escorted us to the movie theatre and when we left after the show... they had a guy come down to escort us out of the area. Nice Folks! CM |

Ok, Shad bay named in 1746 because of the high population of shad(cat
food). Shads good bait, you have any real fishing in the area? Joe |

Cod, Haddock, Mackerel, Tuna, Swordfish, Pollock, Hake, Halibut, Flounder,
Shark, Wolf Eel, Striped Bass, Shad, Herring, Angler, Sea Bass, Salmon, Trout, Perch, Sunfish, Scullpin, Eel, Oarfish, Squid... plus the cetaceans... not to mention Snow Crab, Lobster, Scallops, Clams, Oysters, Mussels and Dulce. They fish for anything here... since the Japs, Portuguese and Russians have been allowed to rape the fishing banks carte blanche. I also like the Northwest Territories ... for 40lb Lake Trout, 50lb Arctic Char, Grayling, Walleye, Northern Pike, Whitefish, Inconnu, Salmon and Turbot. I know what tropical waters contain Joe... I fish and spear fished a lot in those areas as well. CM "Joe" wrote in message ups.com... Ok, Shad bay named in 1746 because of the high population of shad(cat food). Our government sold access to the fishing grounds under our control in exchange for those countries purchasing wheat and beef from the prarie provinces. Then when the prarie provinces found oil and the fish stocks had declined.... they told the east coast provinces to go "freeze in the dark". The remaining fishing areas were quickly overfished to the point they had to place the cod under protection. It destroyed the lives of many people here who had been telling the government to stop and had curtailed their own fishing. Sounds like good fishing, Fishin' is fishin... I do it to catch fish... not for the pleasure. No catch and release, if you don't want to eat them ... leave them the **** alone. I'm totally opposed to commercial fishing by large corporations... same thing goes with farming. CM |

Same here. I like to eat fish, its good for you. And since I live on a
boat it makes since to collect my own fresh seafood, than to pay some Vietnam refuge to do it for me. Sailboat are the best platform for offshore trolling . I agree that commerical fishing needs to be taken out. Commerical farming is the answer. One of the best links ever posted on ASA was by Capt. Neal. It was called baseline IIRC. I seen just in the last 20 yrs a steep decline in large fish. Yall need to see if you have oil off your coast and put in some drilling rigs, they are great for the underwater sealife. If anyone recall Capt. Neals excellent link please re-post it. Joe |

We've got oil and natural gas off the coast.... some major rigs... but way
out to sea on the banks... not close to shore. Major seas as well as icebergs make it an expensive and dangerous situation. CM |
