Yes, but while the 1st ammendment gets the full support
of liberals, they constantly try to destroy the 2nd.

Perhaps the conservatives should chip away at the 1st
every time the liberals chip away at the 2nd.

We also owe our freedom to the First Amendment, so don't skip over that
part too quickly.

With all due respect Oz,
1. I think we've paid the French back and then some.
2. Their hatred for England was their real motivation to help us 200+ years
ago.

Are you really that ignorant of American history,

Or is the American dislike of the French because they owe them for
their freedom?

No, of course not. Lonny "Well-Versed In History" owes his freedom (as
does every American) to the French!

It's also completely and totally true.

If you don't have time to read the whole thing, this covers the basics

If it were not for the French Navy, the American armies would not have
been able to force Cornwallis to surrender. I'd be drinking tea instead
of coffee right now.

Agreed on both points. But it doesn't change the facts.

BTW it's been cool for us ex-colonials to diss the French since day 1.
For example see what Mark Twain has to say about them.

Failing to pull up your pants in Virginia could cost you a $US50 ($65)
fine if legislators in the southern US state have their way.

The House chamber in Virginia's General Assembly has voted 60-34 in
favour of the so-called "droopy drawers" Bill to penalise people who
wear their pants too low, exposing their boxer shorts or G-strings in
a "lewd or indecent manner".

"Underwear is called underwear for a reason," said Republican
politician John Reid.

I'm in favor of just banning underwear.

Most schools now have a 'non-droopy pants' rule.
