![]() Listen to Joe, you PUTZ! He's right and you're wrong. Read it and weep: Ellen MacArthur's record bid ends in disaster Updated 24 February 2003, 13.12 British sailor Ellen MacArthur has had to abandon her attempt to become the fastest person to sail around the world. She pulled out of the Jules Verne Challenge when the thirty-nine metre mast on her boat snapped into three pieces. It came crashing down onto one of the hulls of the Kingfisher 2 - making a hole in it. Luckily none of the 14-man crew was hurt. Before the mast broke Kingfisher 2 was on day 26 and almost a whole day ahead of the nearest competitor. Ellen had been trying to beat the current record of 64 days, eight hours, 37 minutes and 24 seconds set in 2002. "To watch all that work drift away was so painful", she said. Poor Donal - wrong again. CN "Donal" wrote in message ... Ellen has just become the fastest person to sail around the world!!! Regards Donal -- |
