If I recall correctly you were alluding to tacking through a Solar Wind... which would outline your proficiency in the subject you've only recently researched by utilizing Ganz's links! Here let me quote you brainiac.. Bwaahahhahahahahahhahhahha. That solar sail will work but only downwind or crosswind. It will never be able to go upwind. It is against the known laws of physics for a sailboat to sail directly into the wind and it's the same for solar sails Cross Wind????? ... on a photon wave?? Solar Wind..... Pffft! I stand by my statements. A solar sail cannot go anywhere but downwind. It can use gravity assist from various bodies in space to go sideways to the solar wind and even directly upwind in which case the sails would have to be furled or turned edge on to the solar wind. The velocity a solar sail attains from going downwind can be used to allow it to travel in any direction provided it has an intelligent program using planetary mechanics. And, I still have not visited a single ganz link on this subject. I have bookmarked a couple of space sites and I read them regularly. This is why I know it all. CN |
