No red-eye because the SB800 flash is not on the camera and is
controlled via wireless command mode of the D70. I'm really pleased
with the D70, by the way. I'll sell the last film camera I own.

Right on.... I was wondering how well it would perform. I'm considering a
Nikon Digital purchase for this spring. I believe they are about to present
an updated version of the D70? What accessories would you recommend? My lens
selection is fairly good because I still have the Nikon F4 equipment and
lenses.

No new version of the D70 is on the horizon at present. I think they might
introduce something new at the end of summer or next winter. Then you'll have
to wait for it to be shipped and firmware bugs resolved.

5 grand is a bit steep for a digital camera that will be soon eclipsed.
I feel 1 or 2K is a more reasonable limit for these things. The D2X
does look great!

Duh. No red-eye because the kid's not looking at the camera. No
reflection from the retina. Just like in the picture with his eyes
closed.

BTW, it looks more like he's crying than happy.

You can easily get red eye refraction with a camera mounted flash without the
subject looking into the camera.
