Got a plethora of BoatUS/West Marine gift Certificates that will really

take the
sting out of spring comissioning and doing upgrades.

Are you going to upgrade?

What a coincedence!! Bob's boat is only a "stepping stone".

Our relatives are smart
enough to know that they are better off with letting us do the actual

shopping
if they want to get us something for the boats.

Huh?? Giving vouchers saves all the hassle of trying to find the "right"
present.

What would your wife think if you gave her a voucher for Christmas?

A watch!

A Rolex??

Nope Tag Heuer ;-)

Isn't that a rather cheap watch? .... I don't suppose that it will be a
major problem if you still move in the same social circles as you did when
you were a copper.

Being a novice sailor, I got some fantastic reference books. Since I'm
in the northeast US and my boat is on the hard, these books will at
least provide some relief to SDS. (Sailing Deprivation Syndrome)

I got what I wanted this year, "The Cost Conscious Cruiser" by the
Pardeys.

It was something he wanted for the boat...we have Stanley Steamer come in to
do the house once a year..thuis is a little bitty machine...he ended up
steaming the glue off the headliner and we had to reglue...

I apologize sincerely, but the deal's off. Maybe I can melt the darn
things down and make a brass cannon or something.

Actually this Christmas is a landmark, since it's the first time w have
not received at least one (in years past it's been a landslide) dopey
knick-knack in the shape of either an anchor or ship's wheel. My wife is
the sentimental sort who *has* to keep all this stuff, it's getting to
be unpleasant clutter (as opposed to pleasant clutter, the kind you get
with tools & spare Harken fittings).

Does it include a chapter on how to bum a tow from other cruisers, so
you can save money on an engine yourself? Or how to cruise the
Chesapeake with illegal sanitary arrangements, including making big-shot
appearances at boat shows, and not get arrested?

Frankly I don't have much respect for the Larry Pardey any more. He
built two magnificent boats and is obviously a good sailor, but he's got
a very swollen ego and he's a moocher.

Hell no, knock yourself out! I finally trained people to give us
consumables if they were set on buying us stuff.

Heck, yeah...I can bend them up and make clothes hooks out of them!
(sure they weren't marked for haggie, though? Don't want her thinking I
bamboozled away something that she might want...)

Thank you Katysails, in the spirit of fair exchange, would you like a
dozen anchor shaped door knockers?

Since our new Edson is still in the box we kept other gifts to a minimum, I
did get a new Mariner's Book of Days:^)
