I'm trying to alter my IQ so I can understand what you type.
Unfortunately I doubt I can ever aspire to true success. However, the

Well, well, well.................

You sound like you are trying to disagree with me. However, you either

Which assumption are you complaining about?
Are you upset about the fact that your opinion is irrelevent to me, or that

Bwahahahahahahahahaha. Donal, *you* called *me* an idiot, remember? Now
you're complaining? Get over it. Now, since you think so little of my
intelligence, why do you get so splenetic about posts that you claimed
were poor efforts at humour? The 2nd quote you've shown above might
merely by my acknowledgement of your superior IQ, might it not? Why
didn't you just take it as a compliment to your superior intelligence?

Problem you have now is you're stuck on a hook and can't see a graceful
way off. Let me help. I've been playing on Usenet for over 10 years and
nobody's opinion of anything I write, or their own opinion of their own
writings, has any relevance or force outside its own internal logic. In
other words, there's nothing for me to get over WRT your writings, as
they already rate as a sometimes amusing, mostly irrelevant, bit
pattern on the 'net.

Your unwarranted, and false, assumption was in thinking differently. I,
OTOH, have no such delusions of relevance. You could be someone's
sockpuppet, as could I. I really don't care. A friend of mine once
wrote a Perl script that mimicked an annoying poster on another n/g.

I'm not at all upset, I'm amused, but I've played this game many times
on another n/g and it's a bit old. Since you seem to be getting upset,
I'll stop playing Eliza games with you.

Let's get back to sailing. I know it's a crap climate and heading into
winter, but surely you can at least pretend to go sailing on your Bendy
(or polishing its fibreglass); far more productive than wasting time &
emotional energy here. I've just come back from a day looking at OPB's
on Pit****er, drinking beer & wine at the Newport Arms in the company
of 4 women and eating a seafood lunch. A superb Sydney day, high 20's,
low humidity, enough breeze to make watching the sailors on the water
enjoyable and wishing I was out there. In 2 days I'll be in Fremantle
where the weather is equally good tho a bit hotter, and in a week's
time I'll be sailing south - 73 days at sea. By the time I get back
it'll be autumn, but I'll splash the daysailer ASAP. Figuring out just
how little water I really need to sail off a lee shore and not get
stuck on a sandbank is a lot more fun, even when I fail. The stbd tack
is not a good idea, for example...... last time I did that on a falling
tide I was very grateful for a centreboard and a set of paddles. How to
do better in a boat that sails in 6" of water but won't go to windward
in less than 12", without paddling or using an engine??????

The truth is that both of your statements were untrue. They were weak "Ad

I'm leaving for a road trip tonight and will be back next week. I have to
drive the parents to Ontario for a family function. I'm off work for a while
and don't expect to be returning till next month. I hoping for a major
snowfall so I can get the tobbaggan hills sculpted up with some ramps and
funnels through Deadman's Run. Even my 6 yr old niece is bored with the
Bunny Hill now! I'm thinking of hooking up a spare 3/4hp AC motor to some
gears and a cable to make a cable drag up the hill for the tobbagans. Gawd I
love the winter.... I sure wish we had some friggin' snow

I strongly suspect the latter. The world is full of people who blame their

Sailing .... or working???
For most of us on this ng, "sailing" means taking our vessel out to sea
(where we can be master of all that we survey).

Perhaps you should study Michael's posts. He has gone to sea on commercial
vessels. He has done so to earn money that he can use to go sailing on his
own boat.
I'm sure that he gets great experience on these big ships, but he doesn't
try to claim that he is "sailing".

What the hell on you on about.... for the most part "sailing" on this
newsgroup consists of a bunch of cyber sailors lamenting everything that
crosses their path due to their current inability to get out sailing!

If everyone here were as you put it.."taking our vessels out to sea"...
nobody would be friggin' here to bait and abuse!

Look at Bob... he never goes further than eyesight from his dock and lays
claim to stupendous 4-hour passages in the wilds of the LIS!!
90% of the time you never clear the harbour!
90% of the time I'm too inebriated to remember where the hell I've been
unless I refer to the latest collection of beer coasters on my boat!
Horvath sails a low class POS on a polluted lake and never beyond a well
marked racing buoy with every other boat ahead of him to show him the way!
Scotty is too busy cooking steaks to sail beyond the Chesapeake Bay Limits!
Kitty is stuck on a lake doing daysails!
Doug "sails" a friggin' Trawler!
Michael sails for work and hasn't got his "sailboat" launched in 3 years!
Haggie is working on restoring her vessel... even though she probably has
more experience then most of us combined!
Binary Bill sails a daysailor... that leaves the dock 50% less often than
Bob's!
Tadpole sails on a swamp!
John Cairns has illusions of being a salty world class racer... never gets
his own boat out of the lake
Capt Neal makes passages that wouldn't test the abilities of a Mac26x.. let
alone a Jet ski and lays to anchor for 6 months of the Year.
Joe sails his "Iron Maiden" out of a lake and onto shallow flats you could
get out and walk along.
Jon sails in San Fran 'Bay".... he never goes out of the bay!
Old Thom is the only one that remotely sails out of the bay... for short
durations!

Master of all he surveys indeed..... the hell you say!

Mooron, you ever look at the great Lakes? They're joined. No one's
stuck.
You can even access the ocean if you have the time or the inclination.
And
sailing the Great Lakes is no different than sailing the coastal waters
off
New England or for that matter, PRI, Newfoundland, or NS. You sail from
port to port. So get off the lakes thing...we are not little ponds of a
few
100 acres...we are inland seas...
