No....he broke an antler off close to the skull...he didn't die
immediately and I din't have anything in the car to do him in with so the
poor thing laid there and suffered. He was paralyzed and couldm't thrash
so I sat by him and petter him unti. he died...it was very sad...when he
died, I dragged him over to the trunk of the car and stuffed him in,
which was a trick in itself...I was only 2 miles from home....I called
the sheriff from home while Mr Sails hung him up in the barn getting
ready to gut him out...the sheriff came and was PO'd that I'd moved the
deer from the sight of the accident and wouldn't give me a tag and said
we had to put it back for the road crew to pick up or he'd ticket
me....we compromised on that we could put it out in front of our house
for the road crew to puick up in the morning....the deer mysterious
disappeared from there a half hour later....

What's her name?

katysails December 9th 04 11:58 AM

the sheriff's deputy took the deer...that was the point of the whole
thing....maybe he drank Starbuck's with it...he looked more like the type
that would drink Bud Light....

You need to have the authorities tag your deer to make it legal.

Jesus, you get to pay for the repair on your car, and beauracracy
won't let you keep the meat without it getting its cut?

That sucks!

Dunno about that, I've always heard that the police don't care if you take
the deer, nothing about the DNR. But, the collision generally spoils the
meat.

katysails December 11th 04 02:51 AM

Yeah...and the deputy ended up with the meat anyway....had to have the
police report for the insurance....should have just said the deer leapt off
into the brush, but I try to be honest...I was obviously a lot more honest
than he was...
