In the state of Washington a third vote count is underway. The original
count showed candidate Rossi ahead by 361 votes. An automatic recount went into effect. This required a hand recount and examination of each and every ballot in the counties with the largest populations. The end result was candidate Rossi winning by 41 votes. Now the losers have ponied up $700,000 for yet another recount this time of all the ballots in the entire state. Bear in mind a few things. Each ballot is looked at by poll watchers from both political party's. Changes are not made on a whim but must be presented to and agreed upon by a specific group of recounters. The largest population counties already have undergone this process. They also happen to be the counties that lean heavily towards the losing candidate. Those left to be counted lean heavily towards the winning candidate. So why would the losers pay $700 large to ensure their defeat? Well . . . ..they aren't called liberal for nothing. M. |
