Ohhh Noooo!!!
I just spent 1300.00 on the new Nikon 8800 and now I find out that my friends
chipped in on a Canon 20D for my 42nd birthday. What will I do with the Nikon???? The Canon costs nearly 2K and is certainly a step up. Damn, sometimes good luck and great friends can be frustrating! RB |

Loser! Royal camera is famous for grey market stuff. Best real price on the 8800 is 809.00, but with extras it's about 1100-1600. You SURE know your stuff!!!! Bwahahahaha! RB |

i_cid=&CFID=7608799&CFTOKEN=61337849 Loser! I can get it a bit cheaper, but you might want to read some of the comments about these sellers on PP website. It's just too risky. And I paid 40 dollars more from a real store. In addition to that, the extras offered on that site are garbage/useless. You sure know cameras! RB |

You're right, I don't. My wife is the
photographer. S. "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... : http://www.dbuys.com/index.cfm?fusea...id=3744&t pro : i_cid=&CFID=7608799&CFTOKEN=61337849 : Loser! : : : You probably don't even own a good digital camera or video camera. In fact I'm : certain of it. Nothing even close to what I have. : : RB |
You're right, I don't. My wife is the
photographer. And I bet she doesn't own a very good digital camera of camcorder either. Asside from the 20D I also own a Sony PD150 and TVR950. I'm about to sell off my Leica stuff finally as they are worth more than 2 years of Scotty Potti's salary. Your wife probably has some crappy old film cameras and a consumerish 500 dollar hunk of digital junk! Poor people are sad, but cheap people are damn funny! Maybe you can ask Scotty if Craftsman makes a camera? RB |

After 2 weeks???.
Most stores have at least a 30 day return policy. Who did you buy it from one of those upstairs camera stores on 42nd street? S/V Express 30 "Ringmaster" "Trains are a winter sport" |
Most stores have at least a 30 day return policy. Who did you buy it from one
of those upstairs camera stores on 42nd street? WRONG AGAIN, LOCO!!! Circuit City = 2 weeks Tri State Camera = 10 Days B&H Photo = 2 weeks Focus Camera = 10 days Need I go on...? All of the above are top Nikon Auth. sales Centers. B&H is one of the top pro outlets in the country for Nikon. I called Tri State and even though I'm three days over, they'll take the 8800 back. I'll probably just exchange it for a smaller 3rd camera and a 2nd Canon lens. Loco, you're ignorance extends to all areas! RB |

For my 42 birthday last January, I got a Hasselblad H1 645AF with a
80mm f/2.8 Lens. Sorry, but I have had Hasselblads and Leica for years. Sold the Hass. I also still have a custom teak Deardorff which will be sold soon. I wonder if you even know what that is. I was a still photographer for Finley for 3 years, large and medium format, mostly B&W catalogue work, but occasionally models and food. RB |
I own a Craftsman camera.

I feel your pain. The Nikon 8800 retails for less than $900. Donate it to
charity the write off my be bigger, or claim it as an insurance loss and pocket the cash. Gilligan "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... Actually, with the really high cost of the Canon with it's two lenses, I'm thinking of keeping the 8800 for a "boat" camera. I now need to replace my little Sony U30 with something equally compact, but with higher res. RB |
What a putz! All this claimed high end stuff, plus an inherited
fortune (his words) and he still doesn't own a nice modern sailboat. SV "SAIL LOCO" wrote in message ... Sorry, but I have had Hasselblads and Leica for years. Sold the Hass. Just indicates you don't know how or where to shop. Bwahahahaha! LOL!!! B&H is where most pro's shop, including most of the major Manhattan studios. You have no clue. Who do you think Magno and Astoria Studios deals with??? Really, Loco. You love to act like a damn fool! RB |

Good to see you've followed my original advice and now have two very high
quality cameras. It's good to have several video cameras too. Have you thought about giving your home entertainment system to your son and getting a newer, better one for yourself? your home entertainment system to your son and getting a newer, better one for yourself? Very funny! I actually plan to screen media carefully for him. Suzanne and I are both readers and would like him to avoid the TV addiction for as long as possible. When the time is right he'll watch Jason and the Argonauts long before he sees a Harry Potter movie. RB RB |

She mainly uses her old Contax. She sent back
both the Pro and the Rebel that I got her. She's not crazy about digital yet. Yes, she tried them out for more than two weeks before sending them back. Why would she need a camcorder? S. She would also need a proper photo printer and better still a Dye Sub unit. It takes time to get good results from digital cameras. If she returned them, she didn't take the time to learn them. Two or three weeks doesn't cut it. Pro's are certainly getting great results from even 5 MP cameras. RB |
The Pro is 8MP and the rebel is 6MP.
She I think she'd like the 1DsII, but can't justify it for what she's doing at this point. S. "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... : She mainly uses her old Contax. She I think she'd like the 1DsII, but can't justify it for what she's doing at this point. Honestly, the Pro can take really great pics with some practice. A lot rides on how you print them. My new Nikon 8800 is 8 MP. I've already taken some greats shots...but it's easy enough to get it wrong, especially with the focusing. I'm glad the 20D has true manual focus. Your wife should take another crack at it and take her time. An Epson R300M will deliver excellent 8X10s as will the 800. They are terrible for regular text printing though. RB |

Great if you don't mind buildings that look like they're falling over backward? Spend some time with full size cameras then tell us about "great". |
Nutsy,
Pro's can get good pictures with a pin hole camera. It take's F--K up Amateurs to take lousy pictures with good cameras. By the way, why don't you buy cameras like you do Boats? All that money for only a picture when a boat can be a case of life and death for you and your family. It doesn't show a very good sense of Piority, does it? Ole Thom |
