i've done the same
to burn out tools you actually have to use them and use them hard as it
seems you do.

another version for some seems to be as follows:
picked up a grinder at the home depot (makita) a last minute purchase that i
needed at that moment.
arrived to the boat.
opened the box
and it was clearly used and burnt out......................

if it gets dropped off the rafters, so what.

Ditto with a small angle grinder. The good Metabo stays in my hands.
