feet firmly on the solid ground of logic. I may not state what you want to hear.... but the viewpoint is not based on emotion.... rather on a factual basis from a myriad source of information that as best, can only be carefully weighed and judged for it's merit. The sum of this forms the benchmark of my opinion. But why discuss strategy... when it obviously lends so little impact on your nation's global activities. How can Bush really do anything in only 4 short years. He really needs about 20 years. It would be wise to keep him in office for at least that long. Now about those cows..... :-) CM .. Why don't you learn something, Jon. You really make an ass of yourself, putting your ignorance on display. Socialism and communism aren't mutually exclusive. True communism probably never existed in any viable form in the past several centuries, beyond the communes in the US in the Sixties and Seventies. Both the USSR, which, incidentally means Union of the Soviet *Socialist* Republics, and Cuba were/are socialist countries. That the US calls them "communist" countries means little. Are you a vampire? No, vampires are a Christian myth IIRC. You seem deathly afraid of Christians. As all should be of all religious zealots for they believe anything they do is justified. That's why there is war in the Middle East and Ireland. Let me share one example. My brother, a minister, and his family visited us when my daughter was a happy bubbling fearless child of 8 years. He knew that I knew enough factual biblical history to blow his mythology away so he asked me not to deprogram his four kids and in return promised not to expose my daughter to his own frightening beliefs. A few weeks after they left the school called me in for a conference with my daughter's teacher, a counselor and a shrink. They informed me that she had been molested. The proof? She had always been one of the brightest kids, a leader ever eager to lead the rest in some active game. Now overnight she had become a morose loner unwilling to go out for recesses. Did I know why? No, I didn't. She had never been left alone with anyone, even my brother or one of his family and a physical exam showed no evidence of sexual assault. When questioned she cried and claimed she just wanted to be left alone so the 'why' stayed unanswered til a relative died and we were discussing various religions. She became agitated and finally burst into tears "Oh daddy! I've been so frightened ever since uncle Fagan made me a child of god!" It seems that, despite promises, the whole family had badgered he until on the last night when her mother and I had gone to the store, they conducted a hideous ceremony. The stripped her and dunked her into a cold tub of water this she almost drown while they sang and prayed! Then they put her in a chair, put their hands on her naked body, and whaled and prayed some more. Finally they told her she was a child of god and that all the evil sins she had participated in were washed away. But, they admonished, if she sinned again the devil would come, carry her off on his fork and burn her in hell forever. I did what I could but she was never the sweet carefree child they had frightened out of her wits. That was years ago and now she has teens of her own. I had always tried to be tolerant of other peoples fantasies because many draw comfort from them. Now I try to debunk their efforts to use the law to force their worst idiocies on us all ... as they have and will again if we let them. And no lie or deception is beneath them, as witness my own brother. Can you imagine what it was like to be 22 years old when birth control was illegal? |
