Zebra Mussels? What is the best Cure
Since I'm in the GL and St. L. etc. next year the time has come to see if my
high copper content with a little red pepper mixed in anti foul is enough to defeat the pesky little critters. If not what do you use back there that works best? Thanks M. |
Have never seen one attached to any part of my boat, I use VC17m extra. I
don't think they like any anti-fouling, whatever you're using now will probably work here. John Cairns "Michael" wrote in message ... Zebra mussels - them's good eats! Use that red pepper for cooking them. Try
some of those smelts too! Yum! Gilligan "Michael" wrote in message ... You really don't have to worry since you will be passing though and not
sitting for a great while in any one place. Most everyone uses VC17 here.... "Michael" wrote in message ... "Vito" wrote: "katysails" wrote they're too small to eat....they're not even as big as a fingernail..... What about washing then boiling a mess of then and use the stock for a chowder? Yeah, would make a good mussel stew: olive oil, wine, some fresh basil, and a loaf of crusty bread to sop it all up with! Seahag |
Don't forget the tomatoes.

Come to Oz and you can enjoy some beautiful shellfish with a min of metals and toxins ...... though not this week, too much rain and possibility of sewage contamination. Oz1...of the 3 twins. Garlic is a wonderful chelating agent that removes metals from the body.

You'd have to use so much that it wouldn't be worth putting in any mussels

Max Nah, I'll stick with Hawkesbury River oysters..thanks Only after they've spent a couple weeks in the purification tanks having all the virii killed off...... OTOH I can eat the oysters straight off the rocks out the front of my place, but the flavour isn't as good as the Sydney rock oysters. As for mussels, I've found that unused moorings make a wonderful growth platform. Gillnet a few fish and you're set to make a boulliabaise. PDW |
