Muskegon Chrinicle had an article yesterday about the algae bloom that has
terorized us the past 2 months,....turns out it's the blue green variety and
caused by the Zebra mussels...and is quite toxic (monocystins...of the kill
your liver type...) They've just put up warnings to not wade, swim, or let
your dog go in the water, and to not eat any fish out of Muskegon lake,
White Lake or Lake Leelenau, the 3 affected lakes. Of course, we've now had
several freeZes and the stuff is dying off...ya think they could have
determined this when the stuff was in full bloom???? They've got NOAA, U of
M and GVSU all working on the problem....
